What to do on this day?
Father’s Day is a day where many people try to spend time with their father. They also present cards and gifts to them. Some of the gifts usually include socks, sweaters, underwear, slippers, ties, and related clothing items.
On this day, different slogans such as “Best Daddy in the World,” “For My Dad,” or just “Dad” is written on the gifts. Customized gifts are also very popular during Father’s Day as people tend to consult print-on-demand services from photo processing companies. Various photographs are usually printed on T-shirts, mugs, mouse mats, ties, and desk calendars. The expectation is that their father will take the gift to their office to serve as a reminder of the gift presented to them by their families. For many days and even weeks before Father’s Day, most schools and other children’s organizations assist their children prepare handmade gifts such as cards to present to their father. Mothers and older siblings or family members also assist children to create customized gifts, like calendars with paintings or drawings.
For some other families, they prefer to go on a weekend trip or plan an outing, usually for every male in the family.
A popular meal served on Father’s Day is the traditional roast dinner with stuffing, vegetables, potatoes, and meat, which is eaten with pints of lager or lager in a pub.
There is a complete different between Father’s Day and the Bank Holiday. As regards public life, Father’s Day is just a normal Sunday. Transportation systems operate normally. Restaurants and pubs tend to be busier than normal as people take their fathers to celebrate the day.
Some history
Some beliefs state that Father’s Day celebration may come from Pagan Sun Worship. In some areas of paganism, the Sun is considered as the father of the universe. And since father’s Day occurs around summer, some people correlate the two. The United States introduced the idea to set a special day aside to celebrate and honor fathers. Sonora Smart Dodd, an American citizen, who got the inspiration from the Mother’s Day in America, felt the need to plan a day to celebrate and honor fathers as well. In the United States, Father’s Day has been set aside to celebrate fathers day since June 1910. In the United Kingdom, Father’s Day celebration is assumed to have been inspired by the same celebration in America. This is completely different from the story behind Mother’s Day celebration in these two countries.
